The Impact of Music on our Society

Music is a beautiful form of art which many of us really treasure. It plays an important role in the society- at least if it is sensible and written and performed by reasonable artists. However, while music is being credited for its benefits in shaping the society's morals, some of the songs done by our artists are  eroding the morals which majority of the people in the society are trying to impart in our young children and youths. Nowadays, there are many dirty dancing styles, including twerking which I am not sure some people will agree with me.

What is the purpose of listening to music? I think one of the most important reasons for listening to music is relaxation. Music has benefits and drawbacks too, which can really affect the lives of listeners. Music affects mood, health, feelings, as well as brain development for the young. And as Tarrus Riley once said, children will just soak everything we expose them to. They have a sponge-like brain.

There are some bands with the best names ever - I will not mention any names - but the content of their songs is just crappy. Today, I saw a young kid dancing to a song which hand dirty lyrics including "tunapandana" another song in the playlist was "drinks na mayengs" as well as "wamnyonyez -Wamlambez". I may not be sure what all these songs mean. However, one thing I am sure of is that the artists had some dirty intentions while doing these songs. Even judging by what i heard in the "wamnyonyez....wamlambez" it did not sound like something our 6-year old children should be exposed to.

In summary, music is beautiful and people should be allowed to express their art. However, every artist should try some moderation in the content and stop being explicit. Sometimes I feel as though Satan was acting the same way artists are acting today - trying to influence God's angels in a negative way because he was a great musician in heaven. Fortunately, I am not God because if I were, I would throw some of the musicians we have to the dummy planet called Pluto.
